Mixing Valve
Servicing

Thermostatic Mixing Valve’s (TMVs) are installed to safeguard vulnerable building users from the risk of scalding. The HSE defines vulnerable people as children, older people, people with reduced mental capacity, mobility or temperature sensitivity and other people who cannot react appropriately, or quickly enough to prevent injury.

Servicing

In NHS settings, preventing patient scalding from hot water is a top priority — in fact, it’s classed as a ‘Never Event’, meaning it should never occur if proper procedures are in place.

To manage this risk, Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) are commonly installed to regulate water temperature. However, if TMVs are not correctly installed, maintained, or regularly inspected, they can pose a risk to water quality and system safety.

According to Health Technical Memorandum 04-01 (HTM 04-01, 2016), a scalding risk assessment should be carried out before installing any TMVs to determine the need and type of valve required.

  • Failsafe Checks

  • Scale Removal & Filter Cleaning

  • Temperature checks and adjustments where needed
